The UGLY rebrand

A curated visual identity showcase and design retrospective for The UGLY rebrand.

About

Rebranding my agency to UGLY Creative was about creating something that actually represented who we are and the kind of work we want to make.

The creative industry is full of agencies trying to look polished, perfect and safe. I wanted to go in the opposite direction.

UGLY is about standing out, being loud and being unapologetically different. Because sometimes UGLY is beautiful.

The name gives us permission to take risks. To make work that might feel a little weird, unexpected or uncomfortable at first, but ultimately gets people talking. We’re not interested in creating content just to fill a feed. We want to create ideas, campaigns and visuals that people actually remember.

The rebrand also represents how much the agency has evolved. What started with me behind a camera has grown into something much bigger — strategy, creative direction, campaigns, photography, video, design and social all working together.

UGLY Creative feels less like a traditional agency and more like a creative studio. A place where the idea comes first and we’re not afraid to challenge what a brand should look or sound like.

For me, the name UGLY is almost a challenge.

Don’t make it safe.
Don’t make it predictable.
Don’t make something everyone has already seen.

Make something worth looking at.
